Debbie Nix, Chief People Officer, Easterseals Southern California (ESSC), is being honored with a 2026 HR GIVERS Award, which will be presented at a Jan. 15 gala. This recognition celebrates leaders who demonstrate compassion, service and a deep commitment to uplifting others—qualities Debbie brings to life every day.
Debbie has mentored job seekers as a volunteer for several local organizations and has been associated for more than 30 years with Working Wardrobes. Via counseling services and donations of business attire, the nonprofit helps people build confidence as they prepare to navigate their job search.
As a volunteer, donor and success coach, she has supported individuals in transitional living throughout Orange County to find gainful employment. She is also known for mentoring informally, which recently brought new talent to the Easterseals team.
“Debbie introduced the idea of becoming an Autism Services Behavior Interventionist at Easterseals and I was instantly intrigued,” says Alicia Fonesca, who is now working as a BI in San Bernardino. “In a short time, I’ve seen the impact we make and how unique each child is. I am so happy that Debbie believed in me.”
“I’m humbled by this recognition,” Debbie says. “I truly enjoy elevating and helping others and I’m happy to be at Easterseals where we work to create an inclusive environment in which everyone thrives.”
