Exciting plans are underway to expand Easterseals Southern California’s (ESSC’s) autism services, which include a major development project at the non-profit’s Irvine headquarters.
Once construction is complete, the Center of Excellence will offer a broad spectrum of autism services located in expanded space, including Severe Behavior Services, making it the only center of its kind west of the Mississippi! The project is estimated to be completed by the end of 2026.
Meeting Growing Needs
Families across SoCal face long waitlists and limited options when it comes to autism services—especially services for complex diagnoses. There are also urgent needs in crisis prevention.
Already the largest provider of autism services in SoCal, ESSC’s new center will enable us to serve more individuals and employ additional multidisciplinary experts.
With its innovative programs and expert team, ESSC’s Center of Excellence ESSC’s Center of Excellence will provide much-needed, highly personal support and will continue to pave the way for a more inclusive future for people with autism.
An Overview of New Services
Behavioral Health Clinic
- Specializing in people who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and co-occurring behavioral health conditions, such as ADHD, anxiety or other conditions.
- Offering individual, group and parent therapy—both in person and telehealth.
Severe Behavior Services
- Focused on reducing complex and challenging behaviors—such as aggression, self-injury, property destruction and more— to help participants live and learn in less restrictive environments and access the services and resources our community offers.
- A one-of-its kind center on the west coast.
- Treatment goal of reducing the severity and frequency of challenging behaviors and improve the individual's quality of life.
Safety and Crisis Stabilization
- Crisis prevention and intervention services for people with neurodevelopmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health conditions, providing whole-person support and increasing overall well-being.
- ESSC’s START program will support people in crisis and reduce use of emergency medical services and law enforcement.
- Enhanced Care Management to coordinate care, find resources, resolve barriers and expedite treatments that address the person’s unique needs.
