Beverlyn Mendez is Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Easterseals Southern California (ESSC), supervising the administration of services for people with disabilities throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Imperial, Ventura and Kern counties.
Dr. Mendez began her career with Easterseals in 1990 as a Program Director for Adult Day Services, which supports adults with disabilities to actively participate in their local communities. She later served in various leadership roles, playing a key part in the growth and development of services at ESSC and led the organization’s CARF accreditation process.
In 2000, she was named Vice President of Developmental Disabilities Services, before assuming her current role in 2002
Dr. Mendez is a member of the fellowship program of Health Evolution, a national coalition of C-Suite leaders of companies deeply involved in the transformation of health care, who share insights, learn new approaches, focus on the future and drive cross-industry impact.
She is also a member of the Southern California Coalition of Service Providers, whose advocacy work supports sustaining community services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities; and an active member of the Cal State Los Angeles Alumni Mentoring Program, where she guides students navigating early career opportunities.
Prior to her tenure with ESSC, Mendez was a Service Coordinator at the Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center and has held roles as a direct support staff for other developmental disabilities service providers.
Mendez holds an M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Organizational Leadership from the University of La Verne.
