Rahim Jiwani was born in Los Angeles, California. Currently, he practices as an RBT and is starting at Easter Seals Southern California in their Severe Behavior Services division. He completed his bachelors degree at Central Methodist University and is in the last semester of his master’s program at Florida Institute of Technology. He plans on applying to a few doctoral programs in the near future. His research interests are in closing the research to practice gap for the treatment and support of severe problem behavior. This is while doing so from a compassionate standpoint (factoring in values, cultural responsiveness, trauma informed or assumed care, etc.).
He has practiced in different settings throughout his time, such as working in homes, schools, clinics, adult residential facilities, day programs, in-lieu of day programs, and enhanced behavioral support facilities. He was a direct line therapist, a lead RBT, consultant, and assistant supervisor. When working in Washington state, he was part of a year-long special collaboration between a behavior analytic service agency, and a large school district in western Washington. Here, he had a marvelous opportunity to consult with, train, and learn from multi-disciplinary teams of OTs, PTs, educators and mental health specialists.
Rahim is also part of the neurodivergent community and was diagnosed with ASD and ADHD as a child. He truly hopes to bring about systematic and great change to all individuals, regardless of status.
