Dr. Shaji Haq, Ph.D., BCBA-D is Director of Severe Behavior Services for the Severe Behavior Lab, Autism Services, Easterseals Southern California (ESSC). A board-certified behavior analyst-doctoral and nationally certified school psychologist, he joined ESSC in 2020.
Haq’s clinical expertise and research interests include the assessment and treatment of severe behavior—such as aggression, property destruction and self-injury—and the evaluation of the efficacy and efficiency of treatments to promote skill acquisition.
He serves on the board of directors for the National Council on Severe Autism; on the editorial board of Behavior Analysis in Practice; and reviews for other peer-reviewed, scientific journals. Haq has been published in the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavior Modification and Behavior Analysis in Practice. He has presented his research at state, national, and international conferences.
Prior to joining ESSC, Haq served as Clinical Director for the Center for Behavioral Sciences, Inc., for two years and, before that, as a postdoctoral fellow and Senior Clinician for Trumpet Behavioral Health for two years.
Haq earned his doctoral degree in school psychology at the University of Oregon where he obtained clinical and research experience in applied behavior analysis for individuals with autism. He completed a predoctoral internship at Marcus Autism Center – Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where he performed clinical rotations in the Severe Behavior, Language and Learning Center, and the Pediatric Feeding Disorders Clinic.
