About the Research Division
The Research Division started in 2014 as part of Autism Services.
The team studies the effectiveness of our autism therapies and work processes to help guide our staff toward improvements in services, programs, and results. They also share their findings at conferences and work with partners around the world.
Their work includes pioneering research across the fields of robotics, Virtual Reality (VR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and testing new ideas in behavior science and psychology.
The research division of Easterseals Southern California (ESSC) works independently and does not make decisions about services. The researchers of the ESSC Research Division have no financial, nor otherwise relevant, interests that would impact the research they conduct at ESSC.

Keeping Research Safe
Easterseals Research Division is advised by a group of volunteers who are called the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board (HSIRB). This group makes sure all research is safe and fair for the people who take part.
The board includes:
- Parents of children with autism
- Doctors, lawyers, and teachers
- Autism experts and trained community members
They meet once a month to review new and ongoing research projects and make sure everything follows national safety rules.
