What is an Easterseals Sensory Space?

Easterseals Sensory Spaces are calm, welcoming environments designed for people of all ages. They support comfort and well-being in busy community settings. 

Thoughtfully designed to feel comfortable and inviting, these spaces offer a place to step away when the environment feels overwhelming, whether from loud noise, bright lights, large crowds, or simply the need for a quiet moment. They give the sensory system a chance to reset.

Designed around comfort, choice, accessibility, and participation, Easterseals Sensory Spaces support a wide range of sensory needs. The goal is not to remove people from the experience, but to provide a supportive environment where they can regain comfort and confidence before returning to the activities that matter to them.

What can guests expect?

Guests may find a variety of supports designed to create a calm and welcoming environment, including:

• Flexible seating options
• Calming lights and visual features
• Options to reduce or soften surrounding noise
• Sensory tools and fidgets
• Weighted lap pads and other pressure supports
• Opportunities for movement and relaxation
• Scent and aromatherapy supports
• Nature inspired features
• Quiet spaces for rest and reset
• Spaces designed to support comfort, choice, and routine

All supports are optional, allowing guests to use the space in the way that works best for them.

Can anyone use an Easterseals Sensory Space?

Yes. Easterseals Sensory Spaces are designed for anyone who may benefit from a calm, supportive environment.

Whether you need a space to reset, opportunities for movement, sensory supports, or simply a break from a busy environment, everyone is welcome.

• Open to guests of all ages
• No additional cost
• No diagnosis or special permission required
• All supports are optional

What else is available at the Sensory Space?

Many locations also offer sensory kits with portable supports that can be used throughout the guest experience. Kits may include items such as fidgets and sunglasses and are designed to provide additional support beyond the sensory space.

Sensory kits are provided in a drawstring backpack that guests are welcome to keep and use long after their visit.

Availability may vary by location. Earplugs available upon request.

What does ReConnect mean?

ReConnect reflects the experience we hope every guest has. Guests may use the space to reconnect with their body, senses, emotions, or the people around them. When they feel ready, they can return to the event, activity, or experience with greater comfort and confidence.
