How do people receive Easterseals services?
In Southern California, Easterseals Services are provided in a number of ways.
Referrals
Most services require a referral to Easterseals from one of the California Department of Developmental Services' County-based Regional Centers. Regional centers provide assessments, determine eligibility for services, and offer case management services.
Regional centers also develop, purchase, and coordinate the services in each person’s Individual Program Plan. Easterseals is among the vendors that provide adult and senior day services, employment services, residential services, senior services, and autism services for the regional centers.
We provide Head Start and Early Head Start free pre-school services for income-eligible families residing within specific cities in San Bernardino County, Ventura County, and North San Diego County, as well as day care services in certain locations.
Our Senior Day Services in Redondo Beach and Brea provide services to seniors with dementia or Alzheimer's Disease for a set fee-for-service or by regional center referral. Autism Therapy Services are also provided as a service for Kaiser Permanente Southern California.
How many people receive Easterseals services each year?
Every year, more than 25,000 individuals benefit from Easterseals Southern California services. Additionally, Easterseals helps therapists and other professionals learn ways to improve services for people with disabilities through professional education programs.
How is Easterseals supported financially?
Easterseals receives funding from a variety of sources, including private insurers, government agencies, and direct fees-for-services. To make our services accessible to as many people as possible, Easterseals also relies on public contributions.
Is Easterseals a non-profit organization?
Yes. Easterseals is a non-profit provider of health and human services, incorporated under the provisions of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

What are Easter "seals"?
Easter "seals" are stamp-like seals that were first created in 1934 to raise money for services benefiting children with disabilities. Then known as the National Society for Crippled Children, the organization was re-named "Easterseals" in 1967, reflecting the public's awareness and acceptance of the campaign, before being modified to Easterseals in 2016 as part of a brand refresh.
